Sugar Creative has been awarded the Amgueddfa Cymru Challenge Fund to research and develop (R&D) innovative ways to experience and interact with the museum’s collections on a local and global scale.
The fund is a result of the Clwstwr and Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales – partnership to spur creative and technological innovation in the heritage sector.
Clwstwr is part of the Creative Industries Clusters Programme, which is funded by the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund and delivered by the Arts and Humanities Research Council on behalf of UK Research and Innovation.

A key item linked to the Aberfan disaster has today (Thursday 3 February 2022) been officially donated to Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales’ permanent collection. A small clock that stopped at 9.13am, the moment the Aberfan disaster struck, are now part of the collections at St Fagans National Museum of History and will be on display in the ‘Wales Is’ gallery from 16 February 2022.
Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales and Arts Council of Wales are today (1 February 2022) sharing plans which will help ensure they reflect the lives of all individuals and communities. The Widening Engagement Action Plan has been developed in response to three reports on widening engagement, which were commissioned in summer 2020 and published in August 2021.
